Individual & Group Counseling for

Deep feeling humans navigating the often challenging and anxiety-producing terrain of early adulthood, and looking to increase confidence, self-understanding, and meaningful connection to self, others, & the world.

This might be the right time in your life to engage in therapy if

You have made attempts to navigate the complexity of adulthood on your own, but find that you are struggling with day-to-day anxiety, worry, stress, and overwhelm that disrupt your ability to enjoy your desired life and access your ideal sense of self.

Do you find yourself

Avoiding social and other life situations because they make you nervous even though you crave connection?

Struggling with self-criticism, unrealistic goals of perfectionism, or experiencing low self-worth?

Existing as a deep feeler or highly sensitive person (HSP) living day-to-day with heightened emotional experiences that can lead to feeling misunderstood, exhausted, and unseen?

Navigating significant loss as a result of death or big changes that have reduced your preferred level of engagement with life or left you grieving and feeling sad?

Feeling “stuck” or “behind” and then comparing yourself with others around you that seem to “have it all together”?

Attempting to follow your own, authentic path that may be a bit out of the “norm” (childfree, unpartnered, non-religious or spiritual deconstruction/reconstruction) while feeling challenged by expectations and pressures coming from yourself, your family, your community, or society at large to fit into more widely accepted narratives?

Wondering “Who am I?” or “Who do I want to be?” without a clue as to how to answer the question, but a curiosity nonetheless?

Almost always being the one looking out for and taking care of everyone around you, while struggling to be there for yourself and set limits to match your actual capacity?

If you answered yes to any of these questions and are interested in accessing support at this time in your life, you are in the right place.

WElcome

Hello, my name is Bethaney. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, NARM-Certified Therapist, and the owner and operator of, Uncharted Reflections LLC, a counseling private practice offering mental health services to adults in East Multnomah County and virtually across the beautiful state of Oregon.

I identify as a sensitive soul and deep feeler on an ongoing journey of self-discovery, meaning making, and establishing rich connections in this life. I am so glad you are here and I look forward to potentially joining you in similar work along your own path.

I truly enjoy my role as a counselor and helping professional. The work I do is often focused on areas of life I have navigated personally and/or have received education and training in. I enjoy supporting adults across the lifespan in areas such as anxiety (social & generalized), grief and loss, self-esteem and confidence, life transitions, and identity development. These are areas of life that are near and dear to my heart, and that I wholeheartedly believe are easier to navigate alongside a caring soul versus alone.

Ultimately, I do this work because I am passionate about humans, relationships, and the importance of living a life of authenticity. It is an honor to connect with clients and explore ways to live a life worth living in this world that can be filled with many hardships.

Bethaney Clark (she/her), MA, LPC, NARM-Certified Therapist

working together

  • Before beginning counseling services at Uncharted Reflections, you can expect to engage in a 15-20 minute complementary consult call with me to determine if we will be a good fit to work together. We will discuss logistical factors (scheduling, cost of services, your main areas of focus, my approach to this process, and types of appointments - virtual or in-person, etc.)

From the consult call, if we both agree it sounds like a good fit, you and I will schedule an initial session and you will receive and complete intake documents.

During our first session we will begin getting to know each other and building trust, and then work to co-create relevant goals or intentions for the therapeutic process.

  • When starting out, most clients choose to engage in weekly or bi-weekly appointments. Occasionally if a client is in need of more maintenance-based checks ins vs. in-depth work, we may decide to work together on a monthly basis. Frequency is often determined collaboratively and based on needs and budgets.

Depending on your presenting concerns, the intensity of your experiences, and your personal intentions for the therapeutic process, the duration of counseling will vary.

Many clients I have worked with have attended services for a couple months during a specific life event, off and on for a particular time period, or some consistently for multiple years as they dive deep into the many layers of their life and self-exploration. We will collaborate on what works best for you and your situation as we go.

  • Most sessions are structured at 50-60 minutes and range in cost between $100-$150 per session. Clients will typically determine a rate that works for them financially at the start of services and this may be reevaluated over time.

Longer sessions can be arranged and will be pro-rated at an hourly rate.

  • First and foremost, I am a relational human and likewise operate as a relational-based counselor. I prioritize the therapeutic connection and strive to create a safe, welcoming, supportive, and growth-oriented environment.

I am often told by clients and colleagues that I have a welcoming presence, ask thoughtful questions, offer heartfelt empathy and understanding, and support others in increasing comfort within their own minds and bodies.

I utilize NARM (Neuroaffective Relational Model - see more below), Existential Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy for more in-depth work and CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for skills-based interventions as needed.

My own life story and experiences with anxiety and grief (among other things) also influence the way in which I show up and in many of the areas of focus I am passionate about in my practice.

  • NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) is a form of therapy focused on treating developmental, attachment, and relational trauma.

Most humans experience some form of trauma at some point during their lives, whether overt or covert. This can result in the development of adaptive survival strategies that make sense at the time of adversity and can become increasingly distressing later in life.

Often the same strategies that were once helpful and made sense at the time, maybe even helping us survive, can eventually become unhelpful or get in the way of ideal functioning.

The NARM approach assists you in identifying these patterns, reinforces your own agency, and helps you increase access to your authenticity, often resulting in healing, growth, and improved functioning.

Above all else, it is a relational model which prioritizes the therapeutic relationship dynamic that in and of itself can promote healing and growth.

The NARM therapist often shows up with awareness for their clients and themselves simultaneously within the therapeutic process and operates in the here-and-now to assist clients in increasing curiosity about their experiences, processing their emotions, and noticing their somatic sensations to assist with the overall therapeutic process.
